Membership Leaders Strategy
Hello 1VDG Ron!
As promised I took a picture of the Headland Lions Club. I attended their Thursday night meeting. They always have a great turn
out. I congratulated them on their increase in membership and asked what their secret was to membership. First was the personal
commitment of the club members to bring someone to the meeting. To personally ask someone to join. This past year they
attribute some of the growth to the ALHSLF. The club sent two students. The students were so excited that they wanted to start a
Leo Club . The school AG teacher became the Leo club sponsor and he joined the Lions Club. Also two Leo Club member parents
joined. Good news story!

Headland’s Strategy
Thanks for the email! We have been working very hard on membership this year. The next report we should be #1
since we have some more new members getting inducted soon. We created a Membership Committee which is
Chaired by the Membership Chairman. It's made up of 3 members. They continue to encourage members to bring a
guest who might be a good member for our club. We introduce the guest at the meeting and after the meeting
members come up to introduce themselves and talk with the guest. We get them to fill out a card with their contact
information and then a week later the Lion Tamer follows back up with the guest to see if they have any questions
about the club and to see if they would like to come back to another meeting. We give them a brochure about our club
and then tell them to check out our website.
That's what we do. Basically, making the guest feel welcome and following back up with them.

Flomaton Lions Club Strategy
My desire came from loving Lions and what it does for the community. Being selected Zone Chair...I took this position
understanding that coming with it I had three Lions Clubs to oversee. Looking over the paperwork I noted that
Flomaton was still paying their dues but were not meeting...so I took the next step and called a meeting in the town for
any and all interested people to attend the meeting at the Flomaton Lions Club...a few old members attended and
then a few new ones.
When I explained that the other two towns were taking care of the needs for their community and how important it was
to have their own Lion Club in their community and the many things Lions had to offer the community then the ears
seems to perk..No one likes for another community to take care of your community. My next major step was getting a
young lady so attend the AHSLF last May...she attended came back and started a Leo Club in the local school...it also
helps that we have the principal of this school become a Lion. This past year the Lions and Leo have put on a
pancake supper for uniforms for families that children needed uniforms for school. Flomaton Lions took on the job of
selling cheesecake to raise some funds so they would have money to provide eye care funds for their community...this
coming March 19, we are hosting a Drug Education Form for the parents to educate them about drugs in their
community and to make awareness for their children involvement. The Club has gotten two judges that will present
the program and the community has donated Pepsi and Water and Pizza to serve after the Form...Flomaton just
needed someone to show them WHY ARE YOU A LION?
The membership has come because people truly care about other people and YOU MUST ASK someone to
attend...People do not ask people to come to a meeting or a function just to watch what the Lions are doing...YOU
MUST ASK...
