Lion Dennis Fonville was born in Pontiac, Michigan. He grew up in Union Lake,
Michigan and graduated from Walled Lake Central High School in 1976. He earned a
Bachelor of Science degree in Social Sciences from Eastern Michigan University,
Ypsilanti, Michigan in 1986 and earned an Associates in Applied Science Degree in Resource Management
Technology from the Community College of the Air Force in 1986 and earned his Masters of Science Degree in
Human Resources Management from Troy University in 2007.
Lion Dennis entered the United States Air Force in August of 1976, completed basic training at Lackland Air Force
Base in San Antonio, Texas. He graduated from USAF technical school at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi,
Mississippi. His tours of duty took him to K.I. Sawyer AFB, Marquette, Michigan and Kadena Air Base in Okinawa,
Japan. He furthered his career by working in the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps at the University of
Michigan, HQ AFROTC Cadet Pilot Selection Branch, Superintendent and First Sergeant for USAF Officer Training
Corps at Maxwell AFB, AL. Lion Dennis Fonville, then served remotes tours of duty in Soto Cano AB, Honduras and
Peace Vector 1, F-16 Pilot training in Cairo, Egypt. His final tours of duty took him to the 97th Airlift Wing at Altus
AFB, Oklahoma and finally to the Air Force Institute of Technology, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Dayton Ohio.
Lion Dennis has served as a Lion for 9 years. He was instrumental in the establishment of the first Lions Club in
Pike Road, Alabama. He had a direct impact in growing the initial club membership to over 40 members and
continues to serve as an active member in all areas. He was selected to serve as Club President from 2017-2019,
selected as Lion of the Year in District 34 C and is presently serving as Membership Chairperson for the Pike Road
Club.
Lion Dennis is true blue M-Go Blue, Michigan Wolverine fan. His passions are always being in the outdoors. He
enjoys deer hunting, fishing, camping and hiking coupled with playing golf, exercising and a “green-thumb” in the
garden.
Lion Dennis is supported by his wife Irmy Fonville and 3 children, Ryan, Rebecca and Savannah-Rose and 3
grandchildren, Gabriel age 5, Ada age 4 and Anderson age 2.
